BOSTON – The NBA season is one week away and oddsmakers have not held back with the number of odds that are available to bet on. Those include odds from all different odds, specifically here the odds to win the NBA Finals, Coach of the Year odds, and win total odds.
Can The Boston Celtics Make It Back And Win The Finals?
Online gambling oddsmakers have the Boston Celtics going into the season with the second shortest odds to win the NBA Finals at +625 and rightfully so. This also marks the first time in four seasons that the Celtics preseason NBA Finals odds open under +1000. This comes as they are coming off of a top-12 scoring season (111.8 ppg) and also had the best defense in the league letting up just 104.5 ppg to opponents.
Backing up their odds to win the title, even more, is that they were able to keep their core pieces together through the offseason and also added some tremendous pieces to surround them. That includes trading for Malcolm Brogdon and signing Blake Griffin. They also signed Danilo Gallinari, however, he’ll miss the season with an ACL tear.
Expect the Celtics to get off to a hot start this season which means their odds would shorten at any chance they get. That said, right now before their season starts is the right time to get in on them.
Taylor Jenkins Due For COY Odds To Cash
The Memphis Grizzlies are coming off of their first 50+ win season since the 2014-15 season and it is safe to say that Taylor Jenkins has his team headed even further this season. The Grizzlies defeated all odds last season having won their division with +350 preseason odds and also shifted their odds to win the NBA Finals from +10000 opening to +1300 in their final playoff game.
Jenkins has done a nice job in turning this team around in a short period of time going from a 33-49 record in the 2018-19 season to a 38-34 record in the shortened COVID-19 season to a 50+ win team. Also, at +1400 preseason odds to win the NBA Finals, it marks their shortest opening odds since the 2004-05 season. If Jenkins can keep the Grizzlies on a steady course, it is hard seeing his +800 NBA Coach of the Year odds not cashing.
Will The New Look Pistons Make Noise?
Many considered the Detroit Pistons the winners of the NBA Draft and it isn’t hard to see why. However, there aren’t that high of expectations on them this season with their win total set at just 29 wins but they do have -125 favored odds to hit the over. Looking at their draft additions, they drafted Jadon Ivey at the fifth overall spot and traded for the 13th overall pick in Jalen Duren. They also had a decent offseason that brought them Bojan Bogdanovic, Nerlens Noel, and Alec Burks.
Looking at their last two seasons, they were able to improve their record from one season to the next going from 20-52 to 23-59. While the jump to anything over 29 is a huge ask from a team that has struggled in recent years, this is certainly the team to take the chance on with the over with tons of new faces to help them out.
