BALTIMORE – Early 2023 Preakness Stakes odds have Mage, winner of the Kentucky Derby, sitting ahead of the field at +140.
Mage actually just joined the list of the world's top racehorses, according to Longines, and that goes to show what a win in the Derby can do for a horse's odds at the Preakness.
2023 Preakness Stakes Odds
- Mage +140

- Two Phil's +450
- National Treasure +650

Mage’s top odds at online gambling sites are followed by First Mission at +250.
First Mission is fresh off of a first-place finish of his own, finishing first in the 2023 Lexington (G3), beating out the Justify-sired Arabian Lion.
Mage and First Mission are the most dominant in the pack, according to the horse racing gambling sites, but there are two more valuable horses with odds below +1000.
Two Phil’s was an incredibly dogged contender in the Derby, finishing second by only one length behind Mage.
This phenomenal performance is enough for him to get the nod in third place over a couple of other horses with perhaps better pedigrees.
National Treasure (+650) is a three-year-old colt that was trained by Bob Baffert – by way of Tim Yakteen – but has not finished first in any race this year.
Interestingly, National Treasure was not part of the original listed offerings by the Maryland Jockey Club for early wagering on the Preakness.
However, the online racebooks seem to be very bullish on the colt, placing him fourth in odds behind two undeniable favorites.
