PHOENIX – The 2022 Lottery system in the United States has not failed to amaze once again as three major jackpot winners were crowned between April 29 and May 1 2022 across the country. One of the wins includes the second-largest Powerball prize of the year.
Arizona Lotto Goes Down In History With $400+ Million Prize
The second-largest Powerball prize of 2022 was claimed in Arizona as the winner has claimed a $473.1 million grand prize. The winning numbers of the drawing were 11, 36, 61, 62, and 68, while the Powerball number to match was 4.
The largest Powerball winner of the year came in January when the prize was split in California and Wisconsin for a grand total of $623.6 million. This prize also does not even come into the top-10 with the tenth highest prize being $564.1 million. The all-time highest Powerball prize came in 2016 at $1.586 billion.
$38 Million Won In Cali Lottery In San Diego
In San Diego, California, a 7-11 legal gambling retailer was responsible for selling a lottery ticket worth $38 million. The game that cashed out the winner was the SuperLotto Plus where the winner matched five numbers along with the mega multiplier.
There have been no reports of a winner stepping forward to claim their prize just yet, however, under California state lottery laws, the winner of this prize must publicly come forward to claim the prize.
FedEx Workers Come Together To Pool $2 Million Powerball Prize
Moving on to the North Carolina lottery, a group of eight FedEx workers came together to collect a Powerball pool of $2 million. The group had been playing together for three years and had finally paid off. Each of the eight workers split $177k after taking out taxes.
The group matched the first five numbers which got the $1 million but the Power Play doubled their prize. The winning ticket was purchased at the lottery retailer and supermarket chain, Harris Teeter.
