- BetAmerica mobile platforms and retail locations will be changing their name to TwinSpires in the first half of 2021.
- Michigan will be the first state to launch a TwinSpires mobile gaming platform toward the end of January.
DETROIT – Starting this year, the name BetAmerica will be phased out and renamed under the TwinSpires brand announced Churchill Downs Incorporated (CDI), the owners of BetAmerica.
The official debut of the newly named sportsbook will happen in Michigan this month when the Wolverine State unveils their mobile sports betting and casino applications. TwinSpires has been known as the online pari-mutuel betting outlet for Churchill Downs for almost fourteen years.
Outside of this partnership, TwinSpires is recognized in its own right as a sportsbook with lucrative retail, internet, and mobile wagering operations both in the United States and overseas.
The Rebranding of BetAmerica
The rebranding of BetAmerica is being done to streamline services as sports betting across the country is taking off. More and more states are legalizing sports gambling and it makes more sense that horse racing and sports be combined into one sportsbook. This is the main reason for BetAmerica becoming TwinSpires.
It will allow members new and old a better gaming experience, having many more opportunities and varieties for wagering on various events occurring on a daily basis.
“Our TwinSpires brand has consistently delivered over 13 years and is associated with more than a century of wagering experience. That history and heritage offer a unique point of difference in a competitive space,” said Bill Mudd, President and Chief Operating Officer of CDI. “We remain focused on building a profitable sports betting and iGaming business that provides our customers with an integrated experience alongside our horse racing wagering platform. The transition to TwinSpires not only generates marketing efficiencies but also allows us to deliver a more complete overall experience to our growing online wagering customer base.”
The Crossover
Michigan’s online gambling market will be the first state to see the TwinSpires name rather than a BetAmerica application. Over the first half of 2021, all BetAmerica mobile and retail sportsbooks in Colorado, Indiana, Michigan, Mississippi, New Jersey, and Pennsylvania will be rebranded as TwinSpires.
This will not affect BetAmerica mobile customers as their information will be moved for them into the new format with no glitches expected to be seen during the switch. Wagers, promotions, and a number of the best services will continue to be provided to all gamblers as nothing has changed in those respects, only the name will be different. That and an overall bigger and better wagering experience, of course.
“Pursuing a single brand strategy allows us to maintain focus on integrating our horse racing wagering platform alongside our sports betting and iGaming business, which will provide our players with the ultimate online and mobile betting experience,” said Ian Williams, CDI Online Gaming President.
