- The Wisconsin Badgers are favored by 3.0 points over the Purdue Boilermakers.
- The Iowa State Cyclones have -105 odds to cover 7.0 points against the Oklahoma State Cowboys.
- The UCLA Bruins are 2.0-point betting favorites over the Oregon Ducks.
MADISON, Wis. – Week 8 of the college football season brings multiple scenarios of unranked teams being favored over ranked opponents. Some may be more surprising than others.
Wisconsin Badgers Vs. No. 25 Purdue Boilermakers
The Purdue Boilermakers entered the rankings this week after beating the Iowa Hawkeyes, but online gambling sites expect them to fall back out of the rankings as they’re underdogs to the unranked Wisconsin Badgers.
Wisconsin Vs. Purdue Spread Odds
- Wisconsin Badgers -3.0 -115
- Purdue Boilermakers +3.0 -105
The shading in Wisconsin’s direction indicates that this line will likely move in their direction by kick-off. On the surface, the Badgers are 3-3, but they’ve only lost to teams that are currently ranked inside the Top 15. The Badgers have the second-best defense in the country in terms of yards per game and will likely give the Boilermakers offense fits.
The game will begin at 3:00 p.m. EST on Saturday and can be seen on the Big Ten Network.
Iowa State Cyclones Vs. No. 8 Oklahoma State Cowboys
Although the Iowa State Cyclones are currently unranked, they were a Top 10 team at the beginning of the season. College football betting sites may be anticipating a return to form as the Cyclones are favored by a touchdown over the ranked Oklahoma State Cowboys.
Oklahoma State Vs. Iowa State Spread Odds
- Iowa State Cyclones -7.0 -110
- Oklahoma State Cowboys +7.0 -110
Despite having the worse record, Iowa State scores more and allows fewer points per game while also gaining more and allowing fewer yards on average. A Big 12 team has been involved in an Unranked Vs. Ranked win in four of the seven weeks thus far and this could be the game that continues that trend.
FOX will have coverage of the game on Saturday starting at 3:30 p.m. EST.
UCLA Bruins Vs. No. 10 Oregon Ducks
The Oregon Ducks have just one win by more than a single possession this season against an FBS team and it was against the Arizona Wildcats, one of the worst teams in the country. Now, online sportsbooks are expecting the Ducks to lose to the UCLA Bruins.
UCLA Vs. Oregon Spread Odds
- UCLA Bruins -2.0 -110
- Oregon Ducks +2.0 -110
These two teams’ numbers are eerily similar to one another as UCLA averages 0.1 more points per game and Oregon gains 1.3 more yards per game. They also gain their offense in a similar way, mostly on the ground (Oregon: 216.3 passing, 210.3 rushing; UCLA: 205.3 passing, 220.1 rushing).
The Bruins’ rushing defense is slightly better as they allow 40 fewer rushing yards per game, which may ultimately be the difference, however, it’s not surprising to find this line relatively close to a pick ‘em.
Tune into ABC at 3:30 p.m. EST on Saturday to watch the game.
