COUNCIL BLUFFS, Iowa – Sports bettors in or around the Council Bluffs area are now able to partake in mobile betting through the William Hill sportsbook at the Harrah’s and Horseshoe Council Bluffs Casinos.
Iowa patrons must physically sign up for the online sportsbook in order to partake in mobile betting, however. Once they sign up, they can wager anywhere in the Hawkeye State.
The location is expected to be a major attraction, as Council Bluffs sits right by the border of both Nebraska and Missouri, and since neither state has legal sports betting, sports bettors in these areas will be tempted to travel to bet on sports.
William Hill Council Bluffs
Iowa online gamblers are already reaping the benefits of mobile betting from the William Hill Sportsbook at the Harrah’s and Horseshoe Council Bluffs.
Prior to now, residents in the Council Bluffs area would have to travel inside a casino to bet on sports. Now they can sign up for William Hill Sportsbook at either casino and immediately wager from home.
The William Hill sportsbook will provide some of the best betting lines and odds available in Iowa. Residents and tourists alike will see the benefits of the mobile betting experience.
The major draw, however, is for neighboring states. Before they had to physically enter the Council Bluffs casino, now traveling sports bettors can simply drive across the border, bet on their favorite sports teams, and drive back.
“If you are a resident out of state — you could establish an account anywhere — but those wagers cannot take place until the customer is in the borders of the state,” said Brian Ohorilko, Iowa Racing, and Gaming administrator. “Every one of these online sports wagering companies have sophisticated geolocation technology that blocks wagers outside of the state. So a customer that may live in Omaha for example, they could establish an account, but they couldn’t use that account until they drove into the state of Iowa. And then at that point, those customers can wager and those accounts would be activated.”
The sportsbook was approved by the Iowa Racing and Gaming Commission to offer mobile betting last week. William Hill has wasted no time in launching and providing its USA online gambling platform to all patrons, both local and visitors.
