- PlayPause is a multi-state self-exclusion software that has partnered with GVC Holdings, who also runs BetMGM.
- The new software will be seen in all of BetMGM and GVC platforms so that problem gamblers can exclude themselves from these outlets nationwide by entering their name only once.
PITTSBURGH – Partypoker and BetMGM will be implementing PlayPause, an interstate self-exclusion tool on their gambling platforms.
GVC Holdings, who will be rebranded as Entain in the coming weeks, was the first gambling business to become a partner of PlayPause.
This product was rolled out in September after being developed by Conscious Gaming and brought to life by GeoComply.
GVC’s Sustainability Charter & PlayPause
GVC owns both Partypoker and Party Casino and have also involved themselves in MGM Resorts International with Roar Digital, the operator of BetMGM.
For this reason, BetMGM and Partypoker as well as Party Casino will be using PlayPause technology due to the company’s Sustainability Charter plan.
In ordinance with this plan and their new image of responsible gambling, along with PlayPause, they have vowed to give around $132 million in funding over the next five years to aid in responsible gaming initiatives.
PlayPause is an interstate self-exclusion software program. Many USA online gambling platforms have self-exclusion offered to their players but this does not include multiple states. If their members travel to a state where the gaming company runs a business, players at risk will not be excluded from accessing the platform in that state, only the state they were in at the time they joined the program.
With PlayPause, individuals only need to enter their names in once and will be stopped from accessing the GVC and BetMGM outlets anywhere in the nation where they are available.
“Creating a multi-state self-exclusion tool has long been a goal of all stakeholders that are committed to responsible gaming,” said Keith Whyte, Executive Director of the NCPG. “This is a prime example of how technology and innovation can be leveraged to advance consumer protection and foster a more effective responsible gaming framework across the gambling and sports betting industries.”
Where Players Will Be Seeing PlayPause
GVC, or Entain as they soon will be known, will be launching PlayPause with their Partypoker and Party Casino platforms in states where they already exist as well as launching their platforms in new states like Pennsylvania and Michigan.
BetMGM will have this product ready for their launch in Pennsylvania as they have obtained their operator’s license in the Keystone State.
This is only the beginning for PlayPause because should it do well with these mobile gaming platforms, more companies are expected to follow suit as the multi-state self-exclusion program is the most innovative and responsible way for gambling companies to comply with the best consumer safeties for their customers, many people in the industry have concluded.
