LAS VEGAS – The 54th annual World Series of Poker began on May 30 and runs until the conclusion of the Main Event on July 17. The seven-week poker festival is headlined by the Main Event, which begins on July 3.
95 live bracelets and 34 online poker bracelets are up for grabs in this year’s World Series of Poker tournament series. Poker legend Daniel Negreanu indicated on Twitter that he will attend at least one tournament from every day of the tournament series.
Ty Stewart, World Series of Poker Senior Vice President and Executive Director, expects the WSOP’s 54th outing to be its biggest. He claims in a press release that “This year's WSOP is poised to break records with an unprecedented range of options to qualify for and attend the WSOP Main Event…”
Main Event Maynia presents a global qualifying opportunity, allowing for an extra 100 players to participate in the Main Event from poker rooms in France, Uruguay, Canada, Morocco, Czech Republic, and the United States. The WSOP Main Event also expects over 700 poker players from online gambling sites to participate.
The biggest World Series of Poker Main Event was in 2006, which saw 8,776 players. Last year’s event came close, falling just short by 110 entrants.
Horseshoe Las Vegas and Paris Las Vegas hosts the 2023 WSOP Main Event with over 608 tables, making the 54th edition of the World Series of Poker the largest tournament capacity in its history.
