SAN FRANCISCO – Kicking off Super Wild Card weekend on Saturday is an NFC West playoff matchup between the San Francisco 49ers and Seattle Seahawks in which the Niners are massive 10-point favorites.
While Seattle has been surging behind Geno Smith this season, gambling sites have not been fooled by this and still remain heavily in favor of San Francisco to come out on top.
San Francisco 49ers Vs. Seattle Seahawks
- 49ers -10 (-105)
- Seahawks +10 (-115)
Public betting splits also show that many aren’t high on the resurgence of the Seahawks either with San Francisco taking 64% of bets and 70% of the betting handle to cover the spread.
It should also be noted that due to the two being in the same division that they did see each other twice in the regular season in which the 49ers won both games. In their first meeting in Week 2, the Niners covered 10 points with each on a 27-7 win. In Week 15, they won again with an 8-point 21-13 margin.
Niners Have Nothing To Worry About ATS
Both teams are on opposite sides of the spectrum ATS this season with Seattle sitting down with a 7-10 record against the spread and failing to cover in seven of their last eight games.
San Francisco, on the other hand, is 11-6 ATS and is covering the spread by +4.6 points on average with an average winning margin of 10.6 points. They have also covered in seven of their last eight games with six of them coming by a 10+ point margin as well.
The 49ers thrive when NFL gambling sites set their spread at 10 points or more, especially when it comes time for the playoffs in January. In five games where they are a 10+ point favorite at home in the month of January, they have gone 4-1 both ATS and S/U. In general, as a 10+ point favorite at home since 2013, they are 5-3 S/U and have won by 10+ points in those games five times.
Seattle has struggled tremendously when they are a road team underdog of 10 or more points. In their last 20 games in that scenario, they are a horrible 0-20 S/U. In their last 10 games in that scenario, they are 1-9 against the spread.
