- Tuesday’s Mega Millions jackpot is estimated to be the biggest in the lottery’s history.
- A $1.55 billion jackpot estimation would surpass the current record of $1.537 billion from October 23, 2018.
ATLANTA – After no lottery ticket matched the winning numbers from Friday night’s drawing, the estimated jackpot for Tuesday night’s drawing is $1.55 billion. That estimation would surpass the Mega Millions jackpot record of $1.537 billion, won in South Carolina in 2018.
Mega Millions expects a flood of USA gambling players to bring the jackpot from $1.35 billion to a record-breaking $1.55 billion in time for Tuesday night’s drawing at 11 p.m. ET. Although nobody won the jackpot from Friday’s drawing, two players won the megaplier for $2 million each.
Winning Tickets Not Hitting The Jackpot
There were 5,331,114 winning tickets across all prize levels, including nine total winners for the second-tier prize of matching the five white balls. The seven match-five winners who didn’t match the megaplier hailed from Tennessee, Louisiana, Texas, Oklahoma, Missouri, New York, and Nebraska.
According to a Mega Millions news article, there have been more than 36.6 million winning tickets ranging from $2 to $5 million across the 31 drawings since the last jackpot was won on April 18 in New York. New York became the first state to win the Mega Millions jackpot in consecutive drawings after winning the $483 million jackpot on April 14 and a $20 million jackpot on April 18.
Now, US players across the country will be buying lottery tickets for a chance to win the record-setting lottery jackpot. Players have a 1 in 24 overall chance of winning a prize and a 1 in 302 million chance of winning the estimated $1.55 billion jackpot.
If no one wins the jackpot, the money will be added to Friday’s drawing for a record-shattering Mega Millions jackpot prize.
