- The New York Islanders scraped out another victory against the Tampa Bay Lightning to even the series at 3-3.
- The Islanders lost to the Lightning in the 2020 Eastern Conference Finals.
- The Lightning have -175 odds to finish the series off in Tampa in Game 7.
TAMPA, Fla. - The New York Islanders won an overtime thriller against the Tampa Bay Lightning to tie their series at 3-3.
The Islanders and the Lightning met in the Eastern Conference Finals in 2020 as well, but that series was over by Game 6.
Now, everything rests on a pivotal Game 7, and the Islanders are underdogs on the online sportsbooks - but they’ve been underdogs this whole time.
Now, it’s time to see if they can pull off the upset against the defending Champions.
New York Islanders vs. Tampa Bay Lightning Moneyline Odds
- New York Islanders +155
- Tampa Bay Lightning -175
The last time this series was tied was a similar scenario to this one - comparisons to 2020 abounded, the Islanders were on the road in Tampa, and the series hung in the balance.
That was before Game 5, with the series tied 2-2, and the Lightning responded with an utter decimation, winning 8-0.
Blowouts are the luxury of the better team, which Tampa has been over the course of the series in aggregate.
However, the Islanders managed to cobble together three wins - each of them by one goal - and that’s enough.
GAME CALLED.

New York Islanders vs. Tampa Bay Lightning Puck Line
- New York Islanders +1.5 (-180)
- Tampa Bay Lightning -1.5 (+160)
The puck line manages to flip the odds almost exactly, with the Lightning -1.5 being given +160 odds to cover.
Notably, the Lightning have covered the puck line in two of their three wins in this series, and, of course, did not cover the puck line in all three losses, plus a one goal victory in Game 3.
Still the specter of the 8-0 drubbing the Lightning handed out in Game 5 looms large over this series - it seems unimaginable that the team that pulled that off could lose.
This matchup is one of the most hotly anticipated sports betting events of the year, and could be one of the most important NHL games in recent memory.
It’s set to kick off at 8:00 p.m. EST on Friday, and will be broadcast on NBCSN for online gamblers to enjoy.
