- USA has +8000 odds to win the World Cup
- The United States World Cup odds aren’t seeing much public action.
- The USA has failed to make it past the Round of 16 in their last two World Cup outings.
WASHINGTON – USA Soccer has put on a show in the World Cup thus far having made it to the Round of 16 in their third straight World Cup appearance. With that, they’ve also seen their World Cup odds shorten a bit through their run.
At first opening way back in 2018, online gambling sites listed the United States at +8200 odds to win the World Cup. Right before the World Cup was about to begin in November 2022, they were going in with +13000 odds. As they sit now with a 1-0-2 record through the group stage, their odds have seen a big dip down to +8000 which is their shortest yet.
Even with their World Cup odds shifting in the right direction though, they aren’t seeing much action on their futures odds to win the tournament outright. Of the top ten teams with the shortest odds, the United States are only seeing 9% of total futures bets placed and 7% of the money being bet.

Following their advancement from the group stage, the USA will now head into the Round of 16 where they’ll go up against Netherlands. Bovada has already listed the U.S. as a massive underdog in this one.
USA Vs. Netherlands
- Moneyline: Netherlands (-110) vs. USA (+330), Draw (+240)
- Spread: Netherlands -0.5 (-108)
- Total: 2, 2.5
While this is great for team USA, if history repeats itself, they could be on the next flight back to the states. In the last two World Cups that the United States has advanced to the round of 16 back in 2010 and 2014, they failed to make it out.
The last time they made it past the Round of 16 was in 2002.
It isn’t hard to see why the Netherlands is the favorite going into the match as they ran through the group stage with a 2-0-1 record and shut out their two wins with a 2-0 score against Senegal and Qatar.
The public has influenced their odds in this matchup as well as they opened at +375 odds to beat the Netherlands, however, with 67% of total moneyline bets and 79% of the betting handle, those odds have dropped to where they are now.
